Job description
Our Customer is a leading global, diversified information, services and media company with more than 360 businesses. Its major interests include various financial services, medical information and services businesses, and lastly, ownership in cable television networks; 33 television stations; 24 daily and 52 weekly newspapers; digital services businesses; and nearly 250 magazines around the world.
Our Customer is seeking a Senior Sales Tax Accountant on a contract basis to assist with the preparation of various states' sales tax returns. This role is hybrid (4 days on-site and 1 day remote/week) in Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities:
- Process and format large multi-entity sales tax data sets to meet state requirements
- File state and local sales tax returns through state and city websites
- Perform high-volume transactional data entry accurately and efficiently
- Develop and manage compliance and reporting calendars to ensure timely filing deadlines
- Create schedules and assign work to team members
- Assist with property tax filings
- Maintain business license schedules
- Assist in preparing year-end schedules
- Research and resolve tax notices
Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree in Accounting
- 2 to 5 years’ experience
- Sales tax experience is required
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Familiarity with Oracle
- Strong communication skills
- Self-starter
