About the Opportunity

The Mom Project is partnering with an innovative financial technology company to find an experienced Senior Business Development professional with a strong background in selling to small businesses, particularly through relationships with bookkeepers and accounting professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned sales professional who understands the small business market, has a proven track record of generating new business, and ideally brings an established book of business or network of relationships with bookkeepers, accountants, and small business owners.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in expanding the company's customer base by leveraging existing relationships, developing new partnerships, and guiding prospective customers through the sales process. This person should be comfortable working independently, owning the full sales cycle, and contributing to the development of a scalable business development strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive new business development by identifying, engaging, and converting small business prospects into customers.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with bookkeeping , accounting professionals, and referral partners who serve the small business community.

  • Prospect through existing networks, referrals, outbound outreach, networking, and relationship-based business development.

  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and discovery through product demonstrations, negotiation, closing, and customer onboarding.

  • Conduct consultative sales conversations to understand the needs, challenges, and financial operations of small business customers.

  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations and communicate the platform's value proposition to prospective customers and referral partners.

  • Build and maintain a consistent sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and effective opportunity management.

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the company's reach within the small business and bookkeeping communities.

  • Support a portion of the onboarding process for customers they close, helping ensure a smooth transition and positive customer experience.

  • Track sales activities, pipeline development, and customer opportunities within the CRM.

  • Provide feedback on customer needs, market trends, and sales opportunities to help refine messaging and go-to-market strategies.

  • Contribute to the development of repeatable sales processes, partnership strategies, and customer acquisition initiatives.

  • Meet established sales, business development, and activity goals.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in a senior-level or consultative sales capacity.

  • Proven track record of generating new business, closing sales, and building long-term client relationships.

  • Demonstrated experience selling into the small business market, directly to bookkeepers, accounting firms, or other professionals serving small businesses.

  • Established book of business, existing client relationships, or a strong professional network within the bookkeeping, accounting, or small business community preferred.

  • Experience developing referral partnerships and leveraging professional networks to generate qualified business opportunities.

  • Experience selling financial technology, SaaS, accounting, banking, payments, or business services is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of small business customer needs and purchasing decisions.

  • Proven ability to independently manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, presentations, negotiation, and closing.

  • Strong consultative selling, relationship-building, and communication skills.

  • Comfortable conducting product demonstrations and presenting to business owners and professional partners.

  • Experience working with CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales pipeline activity.

  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.

  • Adaptable and confident operating in an early-stage or evolving business where sales processes and strategies are still being developed.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, entrepreneurial business development professional with a proven track record of selling to small businesses and building strong referral relationships within the bookkeeping and accounting community.

This person brings more than just sales experience—they have established relationships, understand how bookkeepers and small business owners make purchasing decisions, and know how to turn trusted connections into new business opportunities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable leveraging an existing book of business while continuing to develop new relationships and expand their network. They should be confident managing the full sales cycle, from opening doors and conducting product demonstrations to closing customers and supporting onboarding.

This is an opportunity for a strategic, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys working independently, building something new, and helping shape the company's business development and customer acquisition strategy.
