As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced CPA with extensive tax expertise to join our leadership team as a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical tax work and developing people, and who wants to play an important role in the future growth and direction of the firm.


Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CPA to lead complex tax engagements, review returns, provide strategic tax planning, mentor staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of managing tax engagements in a public accounting environment. This role offers significant leadership opportunities and the ability to influence firm operations, client relationships, and team development.


Responsibilities

Tax Review & Compliance

  • Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns for:
    • Individuals
    • Partnerships
    • S Corporations
    • C Corporations
    • Trusts and Estates
    • Nonprofit Organizations
  • Review supporting workpapers and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and professional standards.
  • Prepare and review tax projections and estimated tax calculations.
  • Assist with quality control and firm-wide tax review procedures.

Tax Planning & Consulting

  • Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services for business and individual clients.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies.
  • Research complex federal and state tax issues and communicate findings clearly to clients and staff.
  • Prepare technical memorandums, tax opinions, and written recommendations when needed.
  • Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices, examinations, and correspondence.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships built on trust and responsiveness.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through timely communication and practical tax advice.
  • Participate in client meetings and planning discussions.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior accountants.
  • Review staff work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist with training initiatives and professional development programs.
  • Help establish best practices, workflows, and quality standards within the tax department.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

Firm Growth & Leadership

  • Participate in strategic planning and firm initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, technology utilization, and client service.
  • Support business development efforts and referral relationships.
  • Contribute to the long-term growth and success of the firm.


Qualifications

Required

  • Active CPA license in good standing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Significant experience reviewing complex tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Individual taxation
    • Partnership taxation
    • S Corporation taxation
    • Multi-state taxation
  • Working knowledge of:
    • C Corporation taxation
    • Trust and estate taxation
  • Demonstrated experience providing tax planning and consulting services.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred

  • 10+ years of public accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager role.
  • Experience working with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experience with ProSeries tax software.
  • Experience with remote team leadership and workflow management tools.
