Job description
Our Customer is an American worldwide clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.
We are seeking a Senior Technical Designer on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the full technical design process from development through final fit
- Analyze and evaluate garments to develop accurate fit specifications
- Ensure products meet established quality standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost requirements
- Develop detailed technical specifications and fit comments for vendor communication
- Communicate fit direction to vendors and factories for approvals and corrections
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain design integrity while meeting quality and pricing targets
- Monitor garment construction to ensure consistency with approved standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including design, production, and sourcing teams
- Oversee and support Assistant Technical Designers as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or equivalent experience required
- Experience in Women’s Wovens with a strong emphasis on woven dresses and skirts
- Strong pattern-making skills
- Experience executing garment fit from development through production
- Proficiency in Optitex and CLO preferred
- Experience with Centric PLM preferred
- Strong understanding of garment construction, grading, and fit standards
- Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills for vendor and cross-functional collaboration
