Job description

Our Customer is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, they were created to expand access to higher education. Today, the membership association is made up of over 6,000 of the world’s leading educational institutions and is dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education. Each year, our Customer helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success—including the SAT, the Advanced Placement Program, and BigFuture. The organization also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators, and schools.

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote, with regular virtual collaboration and periodic in-person meetups in locations such as Reston, VA, and NYC, as well as company-hosted conferences.

As a Senior UX Designer on the Create team, you will help shape the future of the assessment authoring ecosystem. You’ll design tools that support educators, subject-matter experts, reviewers, and operational teams as they create and manage high-quality assessments.

In this role, you’ll work in an interdisciplinary environment where design, product, and engineering collaborate closely throughout the software development lifecycle. You’ll balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals while advocating for usability, accessibility, and coherence across a growing platform.

This role emphasizes systems thinking, research-driven design, and end-to-end ownership of the user experience from discovery and strategy through execution and delivery.
