Job description

The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Senior UX Research Manager to join their team on a contract basis.

As the Senior UX Research Manager for Inventory, you will be responsible for leading a group of UX Researchers working across Etsy's seller and inventory experience. You'll manage a team of UX researchers that partner with teams of product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers as they plan, test, and refine great experiences for our buyers and sellers.

What’s this team like at Etsy?

The Seller & Inventory group is focused on creating a standout seller and buyer experience, while ensuring we have vibrant inventory in the marketplace that delights our customers. We balance iterative product development with big long-term bets, leveraging data, machine learning, qualitative research, and experimentation with e-commerce best practices to deliver at scale.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Leading a team of UX researchers, mentoring them on UX methods, prioritization, and career development.
  • Guiding researchers on study design and a wide range of generative and evaluative methods, including mixed-methods planning with quant and market researchers
  • Applying agile research techniques and exploring new ways to deliver rich insights in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborating and communicating in a way that amplifies the voice of our customers, ensuring that the teams’ insights are embedded and acted upon.
  • Partnering with other research managers to grow and develop the research team via our toolkit, talent, and socialization techniques
  • Work closely with peers in Product, Design, Engineering, Product Marketing, Data Science, etc. to communicate research prioritization and inform high-impact work across teams

Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in product and user research
  • 3+ years of research management experience leading and developing UX research teams
  • Strong ability to synthesize and triangulate qualitative and quantitative data
  • Proven experience influencing product decision-making through impactful research
  • High comfort level in managing and collaborating with stakeholders across the business
  • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working closely with machine learning or data science teams
  • Experience supporting dual-sided marketplace products
  • Subject-matter expertise in building product experiences from the ground up

Hours and Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week
  • 100% remote

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
