Job description

Our Customer is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, they were created to expand access to higher education. Today, the membership association is made up of over 6,000 of the world’s leading educational institutions and is dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education. Each year, our Customer helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success—including the SAT, the Advanced Placement Program, and BigFuture. The organization also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators, and schools.

We are seeking a Senior Visual Designer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote.

As a Senior Visual Designer, you bring to the team your demonstrated ability to develop and build compelling and world-class visual strategy. We’re looking for a creative problem solver who can think strategically but is also a maker. While we work in a highly collaborative environment, we’re looking for someone who can also work independently, self-manage, and find ways and means to support the company's goals.

What You'll Do:

  • Work hands-on in the development of brand iconography/illustrations, color palette exploration, creation of a photography bank, and application of visual identity components across digital and print channels
  • Concept, iterate, and implement branding and visual direction for across a range of cross-channel experiences. Help grow the brand visual identity system to ensure it meets the growing organizational and user needs
  • Lead the ideation and design of projects from start to finish within a team of designers
  • Work hands-on within a fast-paced iterative design environment
  • Coordinate with project management and Creative team to ensure timely delivery of design artifacts
  • Help foster an environment for collaboration by partnering with business and other creative units to align visual design approach with project goals, and the company brand
Must-haves:
  • A portfolio of your work included in your application
  • Hands-on experience in design for agency or in-house team
  • Advanced understanding of visual design systems, hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, illustration, photography, and composition
  • Experience working with brand level design systems
  • Pixel perfect attention to detail
  • Appetite for problem solving and a love for fast-paced environments
  • Sharp design sensibilities, critical thinking, and an eye for details
  • You have a solid understanding of UI design principles and best practices
  • Experience in designing for accessibility
  • Mastery of industry standard design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Motion design experience would be a plus
