Job description
Our customer is a leading global media and entertainment company that creates and distributes a large portfolio of content and brands across television, film, and streaming and is available in over 200 countries and territories and over 45 languages. Headquartered in New York, NY, with more than 30 office locations in the United States.
We are seeking a Social Media Manager on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Lead social media publishing strategy for brand and priority programming across multiple social platforms
- Manage and guide coordinators to publish high-quality social content with strong attention to detail, grammar, and tone
- Oversee and maintain content calendars for multiple social profiles across platforms
- Partner with leadership to evolve and optimize publishing strategies across social channels
- Develop organic social promotion strategies for priority titles, campaigns, and cultural moments tailored to target audiences and platforms
- Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to build comprehensive social content plans
- Document social strategies and rollout plans for leadership visibility and alignment
- Engage with audiences across brand and cluster accounts and identify opportunities to expand community engagement tactics
- Collaborate with social teams across a broader brand portfolio to align on cross-brand campaigns
- Own engagement and growth goals for campaign performance and content reach
- Use insights and performance data to inform decisions on content mix, timing, partnerships, and talent collaborations
- Identify creative opportunities to leverage talent and drive audience engagement
- Pitch innovative ideas to expand social promotions across new and emerging platforms
- Review and approve social assets, including video, imagery, and copy for accuracy, quality, and brand alignment
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience managing social media for a major brand or public figure
- Proven ability to drive social strategy using performance metrics and data insights
- Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across marketing, editorial, legal, and programming groups
- Excellent creative and editorial judgment
- Deep knowledge of major social media platforms and their unique content strategies
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing requests from multiple stakeholders
- Experience using social media publishing and reporting tools such as Khoros, Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout, ListenFirst, CrowdTangle, or Meta Business Manager
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving digital environments
- Strong awareness of internet culture, trends, and online communication nuances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing social media strategy for a major media company or direct-to-consumer streaming platform
