Job description

Our Customer is a consumer financial services company headquartered in Connecticut. The company offers consumer financing products, including credit, promotional financing and loyalty programs, installment lending to industries, and FDIC-insured consumer savings products through the consumer bank, its wholly owned online bank subsidiary.

We are seeking a Social Strategist on a contract basis to support our customer’s ongoing business needs. This role is 100% remote.

This role will elevate consumer and small business (SMB) engagement through a best-in-class owned and earned social strategy, powered by high-performing influencer and creator marketing. This role is responsible for setting the strategic vision and overseeing execution across social channels, unifying brand and content across multiple verticals while maintaining authenticity within the social ecosystem.

The ideal candidate is a modern social strategist and people leader who can translate business priorities into clear channel strategies, editorial programming, governance, and measurement frameworks. This individual brings deep expertise in brand storytelling, community-led growth, creator partnerships, and reputation management, and is comfortable operating within a regulated environment while keeping the brand culturally relevant.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the owned social media strategy across priority consumer and B2B platforms, including channel roles, audience strategy, content pillars, editorial calendars, and governance
  • Establish and evolve brand voice and content standards for platform-native storytelling across short-form video, series programming, user-generated style content, seasonal moments, and thought leadership
  • Build and scale a content operating model across internal stakeholders and agency partners to ensure consistent, timely, and on-brand production and publishing
  • Drive continuous optimization through testing of creative formats, messaging, cadence, and audience segmentation
  • Own the strategy to increase earned conversation, share of voice, advocacy, and positive sentiment across social platforms
  • Lead community management strategy, including response playbooks, moderation standards, escalation paths, and issue management in partnership with legal, compliance, communications, and customer care teams
  • Monitor cultural, category, and platform trends to identify real-time engagement opportunities
  • Partner with brand and communications teams to protect and enhance brand reputation through accurate, compliant, and consumer-first messaging
  • Develop and scale influencer and creator marketing programs to drive awareness, education, and consideration
  • Identify, vet, contract, and manage creators while ensuring compliance with disclosure, brand safety, and governance requirements
  • Build repeatable creator programs and integrate learnings into owned content strategy
  • Track and report creator performance metrics, including reach, engagement quality, watch time, sentiment, and conversions, where applicable
  • Serve as governance lead for shared social media handles across multiple business lines
  • Build and manage intake, prioritization, approval, and publishing processes that balance business needs with cohesive brand storytelling
  • Establish standards for shared-handle usage, tone, community management responsibilities, escalation paths, and reporting
  • Align cross-functional stakeholders on platform strategy, timing, and messaging guardrails
  • Act as a senior social media and branded content subject-matter expert across the organization
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the social media team with clear priorities and growth paths
  • Own social media budgets, resourcing, and agency partnerships across owned, earned, and influencer initiatives
  • Partner closely with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to review and approve content, disclosures, and targeting considerations
  • Collaborate with marketing, communications, and analytics teams to define KPIs, deliver reporting, and translate insights into strategic recommendations

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of marketing experience
  • 5+ years of experience in brand storytelling, consumer content management, or marketing communications
  • 5+ years of experience leading owned and earned social media for a consumer brand
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing influencer and creator marketing programs
  • Advanced knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices
  • Experience representing a corporate brand through social media engagement and community management
  • Strong writing, editing, and creative judgment skills
  • Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • An analytical and insight-driven approach to performance measurement and optimization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using social media management platforms such as Sprinklr
  • Experience developing multi-platform brand campaigns and sustained editorial programming
  • Understanding of how owned, earned, and paid social work together to drive engagement and advocacy
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services or healthcare
  • Ability to influence in matrixed organizations without direct authority
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort managing multiple workstreams in fast-paced environments
