Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.


We are seeking a Software Development Engineer 3 on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, release, deploy, and document software applications for the test and calibration of vision systems for multiport da Vinci robotic systems.
  • Integrate and implement illumination measurement systems and closely related algorithms for test and calibration of vision systems.
  • Work closely with system/embedded software team to create and maintain new APIs to support test and calibration.
  • Builds and maintain software infrastructures for rapid development of test and calibration fixtures.
  • Understand each new product’s operation and control, and develop the means to ensure their integrity in volume production.
  • Design, document, and qualify software for use in manufacturing new vision systems.
  • Follow good software development practices.
  • Work independently to overcome roadblocks with minimum guidance.
  • Take ownership of manufacturing software and work with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion.
  • Support existing production software.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Software Engineering and Computer Science preferred).
  • Minimum 3+ years of software development experience (higher degree can offset years of experience).
  • Strong programming skill and experience with C#, or Python, or C/C++
  • Understanding of OOA/OOD/OOP/Design Patterns.
  • Passionate about technologies and love programming.
  • Able to map, develop, and test projects from inception to launch.
  • A track record for executing and delivering on projects.
  • Motivated to continually improve best practices.
  • Adaptable to dynamic requirements.
  • Enjoy the thrill of tackling large complex problems.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex concepts to engineers.
  • Detail oriented team player.
  • Resourceful problem-solving machine.
  • Foster strong sense of team with peers through solicitation of feedback and constructive contribution to review sessions.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally. Travel requirements will normally be less than 10%.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with MATLAB is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, time management, interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated engineering environment.
  • Strong industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production quality systems.
  • Fully understand Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with photometric, radiometric measurement fundamentals a plus.
  • Medical device industry experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulated Quality Systems, especially medical device regulations is a plus.
