Job description

Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.

Our Customer is looking for a Software Engineer on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is hybrid (onsite 3 days a week) in Milwaukee, WI.

The assignment will be on a team of 4-6 people developing a new Pricing System using C#.net while maintaining and supporting the existing applications. You’ll be part of a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring this great company continues to do great things for its customers. To excel in this role, you need to be passionate about software craftmanship and eager to understand the insurance business. You should be comfortable maintaining applications with established code bases and willing to explore modern approaches to tackle new challenges.


What You'll Do:

  • Work with subject matter experts and technical peers to translate complex mathematical business needs into software engineering applications.
  • Leverage technical experience to develop, create, and implement software that meets the business needs.
  • Strive to continually improve the core systems, with a focus on delivering excellence to the business experts who rely on your work.
  • Develop software using established development and continuous integration practices.
  • Utilize established monitoring and automation processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4-5 years professional experience in C# required.
  • Microsoft Excel VBA and/or C experience desired.
  • Familiarity using continuous integration and deployment concepts.
  • Strong technical skills with a continuous growth mindset and the desire to learn.
  • Interest in understanding the insurance business.
  • Capable of communicating with technical peers and business side experts.
