Job description
The Mom Project is thrilled to partner with our client, a leader in the video game and digital entertainment industry, in support of their Apprentice Pathway Program (APP)!
APP is a workforce development program that provides apprenticeships to job seekers from nontraditional backgrounds. We are seeking a Software Engineering professional returning to the workforce after taking time off from their careers for caregiving. The apprenticeship program includes 6 months of paid employment, featuring hands-on work and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects.
This role will be a part of a cohort and will begin in January 2026.
Role Overview:
- In this role, you will be a software developer on a team that is tasked with developing internal web-based tools that power personalized experiences for PlayStation users. This is a full-stack team, with opportunities to work on both Java/Kotlin backend and JavaScript (React JS) frontend.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop business-critical software using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot for backend, and JavaScript, React JS for frontend.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as UX designers, product managers, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of new features and functionalities.
- Apply software development practices such as coding standards, code reviews, build processes, and operations
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with Java/JavaScript programming. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- At least 1 year of prior experience as a FullStack Software Engineer.
- Eager to learn on the job with a sense of ownership
- Growth mindset
- Ability to grasp new tools quickly, including Git, Jira, Jenkins, Splunk/Datadog, and Confluence
Hours and Location:
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week
- Candidates must be based in the Los Angeles area. Work will be primarily remote, with occasional days (at least 1x/month) on-site for workshops, trainings, or team gatherings
- Cohort will begin in January 2026
