We are seeking a contract Software Engineer who will analyze and troubleshoot complex technical problems, design and deliver scalable solutions, and provide leadership across development initiatives. This role requires deep Java expertise, a strong understanding of modern cloud environments, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure high-quality solution delivery. The position serves as an escalation point for critical production issues and contributes to continuous improvement across development practices. This role is 100% remote in EST hours.


Hours: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM, ending 8 hours later.

Monday - Friday - After hours and weekends for support and monitoring production releases.



Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop solutions using modern technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and cross-department stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Own solutions end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and completeness through recurring reviews and validation checkpoints with implementation teams.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex projects and serve as an escalation point for production outages.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and development standards.
  • Review team practices to identify opportunities for improvement and modernization.
  • Work with external vendors to resolve Level 3 support issues.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related or business-related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional IT experience with at least 3 years leading complex, high-impact projects
  • Expert-level experience developing Java services in enterprise environments
  • Strong experience with Java and Spring frameworks
  • Expertise in building RESTful services delivering JSON and XML responses
  • Experience with MongoDB and relational databases
  • Familiarity with IntelliJ, Eclipse, Maven, BitBucket, Git, and GitHub
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with Linux and Bash scripting
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, using Jira
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components and cloud platforms (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles, including Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Ability to work effectively in virtual and distributed team environments.
