Job description

Join our mission-driven team as our lead software and automation engineer to shape the future of family-focused financial solutions while enjoying a work environment designed for balance, flexibility, growth, and purpose.

We are a fast-growing WealthTech, founded by Harvard and HBS alums with experience at Facebook and McKinsey. We’ve built a 1,000+ family waitlist with no marketing spend, democratizing financial strategies traditionally reserved for the ultra-wealthy. We have a dual mission of helping the families we serve make the most of their money, and helping amazing talent balance meaningful work and personal growth, with family time.

At this pivotal moment in our journey, you’ll help shape our trajectory and the future of personal finance.

Are we a fit?

This role could be great for you if you're looking for:

  1. Flexible work schedule: We understand the importance of family time. Enjoy a flexible schedule that accommodates school drop-offs, pick-ups, and important family moments. Weekly meeting-free days.
  2. Flexible location: Work remotely from home, spending less of your already scarce time commuting. Opportunities to co-locate with teammates quarterly to collaborate in-person.
  3. Meaningful impact: Build systems that empower families to significantly move the needle on how they lead their lives and support their families.
  4. Personal Growth: Join a rapidly expanding company with opportunities, mentorship, and resources to quickly improve your skills and advance your career. Work with the latest tools in automation, development, and financial analysis.
  5. Autonomy: You’ll have the authority to make decisions, contribute to process improvements, and take ownership of your work.

Role:

We’re seeking a Software Engineer (Automation, Back-End) to design and implement scalable automation systems and back-end infrastructure for our fintech services. This role blends workflow automation, API integrations, and software development, providing technological foundations for both client-facing and internal systems. You’ll manage data structures, such as our CRM, and create analytical models to support business decisions.

You'll work directly with our CEO, receiving C-Suite mentorship and guidance. Significant ownership of your work and long-term career growth awaits as you take projects from concept to implementation.

About you:

  1. Passionate about using technology to make a positive impact.
  2. Skilled in automation, software development, and data management.
  3. Enjoy tackling complex challenges and creating seamless workflows.
  4. Value autonomy and ownership, with a desire to influence product development.
  5. A team player who thrives in small, collaborative environments.
  6. A self-starter who embraces innovation and seeks long-term growth.
  7. Key Responsibilities:
  8. Automation & Workflow Design: Develop advanced automations using Zapier and custom scripts (JavaScript/Python).
  9. Back-End Development: Build and maintain scalable, efficient back-end systems and manage structured data sets.
  10. API Integration: Connect third-party platforms via REST APIs and webhooks for seamless data flow.
  11. Data Management & Analytics: Proficiency in managing and optimizing databases. Maintain structured data sets and apply advanced Excel skills for business insights.

Example Projects:

  1. Workflow Design: Develop and automate processes for new prospective families onboarding, coordinating with tools like Zapier and Wealthbox to enhance operational efficiency and work towards offering any family a free and tailored initial second opinion on their finances.
  2. Automation: Automate the creation of an annual report - currently built manually - to help existing families ensure they’re on track with their finances and see their progress to date. This involves securely connecting to our custodian's API and SFTP data feed to automate the import and processing of family data.
  3. Leveraging AI to Surface Opportunities: Select and integrate AI tools to mine investment account data and tax statements, to surface planning opportunities.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Proficient in JavaScript, Python, C++ (3+ years of experience).
  3. Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON.
  4. Experience in back-end development and database management.
  5. Advanced Excel skills, particularly in financial modeling.
  6. 3-10 years of experience in automation, software development, or related roles.
  7. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  8. Excellence communication and collaboration skills, including with non-technical talent

We are an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Start Date:

January 2025

Compensation:

  1. Salary: $100-$130K, based on experience.
  2. Compelling family-focused benefits: Access to health and retirement plans, with generous 401(k) match, education funds match, paid family leave, and performance-based bonus, and a tailored analysis each year for a friend/family member of your choice.
