We are seeking a Media Analyst on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote - PST timezone.
This role will analyze the impact of comms work across traditional press, as well as social media and owned channels. The analyst should have solid numeric and quantitative analysis skills.
The analyst will be responsible for monitoring news cycles, providing qualitative analyses, and quantitative data insights for the most pressing issues. Additionally, this role will sit at the heart of the global effort to quantify the impact of the work of its communications team for all reactive as well as proactive activity, establish strategic KPIs, and identify learnings from evaluating media activity.
The ideal candidate will excel at working collaboratively with colleagues all over the world (working language is English) and can consistently deliver high-quality work even under severe time constraints. Candidates should be strong communicators. Attention to detail, ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment, strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, as well as organizational skills are critical.
Overall, you will play a key role in analyzing the true impact of major news stories about the company. In turn, you’ll be feeding into important strategic decisions by the global Communications and Public Affairs leadership team.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience in a journalistic and/or communications career, in academic research, at a think tank, or after working for a media agency, media analysis firm, or media measurement platform.
Fluent knowledge of both English & Spanish is required.
Responsibilities:
- Read, analyze, and summarize media coverage related to key organizational issues and initiatives.
- Monitor domestic and international news cycles and provide contextual insights to internal stakeholders.
- Create reports and presentations with media insights and data visualizations to assess the impact of media coverage and news cycles.
- Support communications teams in developing and tracking success metrics for campaigns and initiatives.
- Analyze traditional media coverage as well as owned, paid, and earned social media activity.
- Provide actionable insights to inform communications and media strategies.
- Draft messaging materials and prepare news summaries as needed.
- Support measurement and analysis projects related to media coverage and social media conversations.
- Manage multiple deliverables within deadline-driven environments.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Broadcast, Political Science, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in media analysis, research, journalism, communications, or related roles.
- Experience working within media agencies, media analysis firms, media measurement platforms, or think tanks preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple deliverables in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Experience handling datasets and creating data visualizations.
- Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools such as Brandwatch and Cision.
- Experience drafting messaging materials and writing news summaries.
- Understanding of media metrics, analytics, and media measurement methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with media monitoring tools.
- Experience conducting measurement projects using data platforms to analyze media coverage and social media conversations.
- Understanding of analytics and reporting within media and communications environments.
