Job description

The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a contract Senior Manager, Global Payroll.

We are seeking a strategic and forward thinking Sr. Manager, Global Payroll to oversee the global payroll function. You'll be responsible for the entire payroll function for offices around the globe and across all of Etsy's brands. You will provide recommendations, and own the implementation of a new global payroll vendor, providing standard methodology and supporting discovery sessions with key partners, and supervise the payroll team.

You’ll act as the main point of contact for both employees and external vendors regarding payroll issues, so a strong service-focused approach and a high sense of urgency are essential. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Provide strategic leadership for Payroll operations while measuring and supervising the effectiveness and efficiencies of the services provided.
  • Lead all aspects of payroll process and vendor relationships for locations including the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium & India.
  • Run global process for Expats.
  • Establish strong payroll quality controls while ensuring compliance with country, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Ensure all payroll related tax filings are completed timely and accurately, including the creation of new accounts with various federal and state agencies as required.
  • Handle any payroll audit requests and work with tax agencies and payroll service providers to resolve tax issues.
  • Remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting all domestic and international payrolls.
  • Manage, coach and provide leadership development to payroll team members to optimize operational excellence and build a deeper bench of talent.
  • Drive and handle projects such as M&A payroll integration, planning and implementing new country payroll platforms.
  • Review and update vendor contracts to ensure timely payments
  • Develop and implement standard methodologies, key performance indicators and SLA metrics for the team to improve payroll operational efficiency.
  • Build positive relationships to ensure successful collaborations within the People team, Accounting, and other teams providing expertise on payroll matters
Ideally you'll bring:
  • A minimum of 8 years of global payroll experience.
  • Workday experience required; Workday Payroll experience preferred.
  • A deep understanding of payroll processes and state, local and country laws pertaining to payroll and payroll tax administration.
  • Experience scaling and optimizing payroll systems and procedures for a fast-growing global organization, with a proven record of successful project management.
  • A confirmed understanding and experience of processing Expat payrolls.
  • Experience supporting a global payroll implementation.
  • Experience working in a Public Company and Sox Compliance.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and Microsoft Excel & Google sheets.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • An ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously, is flexible, collaborative, and deadline driven.
  • Strong management ability with proven record to lead, positively influence and drive change in a team and fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to analyze data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
