About The Role
We are looking for someone to join our global team and help us grow Etsys brand awareness through thoughtful consumer communication strategies in North America and globally. This person will collaborate with our US Consumer Communications Specialist and the broader global team to craft fresh strategies and compelling messages, while also partnering with stakeholders across Etsy to identify new storytelling opportunities and amplify key campaigns.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead our consumer communications strategy for North America, with a strong focus on the US market.
- Develop compelling story angles that resonate across both North American and global media across a variety of categories and disciplines.
- Manage two consumer PR agencies - one in New York and one in Toronto - ensuring a cohesive strategy across the region.
- Find and leverage data-driven insights to fuel storytelling opportunities that spotlight Etsy as a trends authority.
- Act as the liaison between the consumer comms team and our marketing partners to create press moments tied to marketing priorities.
- Develop strategic messaging and materials for key announcements and ongoing use.
- Lead the comms strategy for influencer campaigns, collaborating with the Influencer team on planning and execution.
- Secure and execute media opportunities for consumer-focused spokesperson.
- Partner with the Corporate Communications team on select corp-sumer media opportunities for our Chief Operating & Marketing Officer.
- Jump on newsjacking opportunities to position Etsy as part of the cultural conversation.
- Source and vet sellers and products for media outreach.
- Support the planning and execution of Etsy's consumer comms-led events
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 7+ years of communications experience.
- A strong pulse on the ever-changing media landscape and a passion for storytelling.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.
- Experience managing PR agencies.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders.
- Thinks outside the box and brings a fresh approach to exploring new communications channels and strategies.
- Strong media relations with US reporters/media outlets.
- Experience working with a global communications team.
- Experience planning and managing logistics for events and presentations.
- Experience with a dual-sided marketplace, e-commerce platform, and/or retail brand.
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week
- EST hours
- 2x/week on-site in the Brooklyn office
