Job description

Our customer offers automobile, homeowners, and other personal lines of insurance to members across 23 states and the District of Columbia. For decades, they’ve brought peace of mind to members by looking to protect their belongings, find solutions to problems, settle claims, and get their lives back on track. With more than 100 years of history, our Customer is one of the most trusted brands in America.

Our customer is looking for a Strategic Communications Consultant on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. The ideal candidate will have solid skills in employee communications, including strategy and execution, writing/editing, change management, organizational communications, interpersonal and team communications, and creative thinking. This role is 100% remote and candidates must be able to work PST hours.

What You'll Do:

  • You would serve as a member of the Employee Communications team under the guidance of the strategic communications lead for IT.
  • Develop communications strategies and tactical plans to advance the goals of IT or departments or projects within IT
  • Execute all components of the communication plans, as well as one-off communications for any emerging needs
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the business priorities, key business drivers, partners, and new and ongoing initiatives within the company and the IT division
  • Partner closely with leaders, stakeholders, and teams to plan and execute communications
  • Partner with change management professionals to analyze a range of changes and their impacts, then create and execute communications to help employees understand the changes and reasons behind them
  • Contribute and collaborate as a member of the Employee Communications team

Must-Haves:

  • 7+ years of experience in internal/organizational communications in a fast-moving corporate environment
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience with change management
  • Understanding of Prosci/ADKAR (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement) is a plus
  • Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams a plus
  • Experience communicating within/for an IT department
  • Excellent writing, editing, and strategic planning skills
  • Experience counseling executives on communication issues
  • Track record of successful, well-conceived, and executed employee communication campaigns in an IT environment
  • Ability to work independently in high capacity
  • Ability to find and analyze data and use it effectively
  • Proven ability to establish trust and credibility on a team and work effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to distill and simplify technical topics and information for broad employee audiences
  • Ability to develop cross-functional relationships and build credibility
  • Flexibility to adapt to change quickly and pivot when necessary
  • Well-organized, efficient, and highly productive
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related, is required

Hours & Location

  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be 100% remote and candidates must be able to work PST hours

The salary range for this position is $50.71 - $60.71 per hour.
