Our Customer is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is 100% remote with a preference for Chicago candidates.


Responsibilities:

  • This role will focus 70% on the traditional sourcing activities; negotiations, renewals, category strategies, and 30% on tactical elements like facilitating security risk assessments and other vendor onboarding activities
  • You will build and develop relationships with Business Partners globally, including operational leaders, legal teams, finance, and risk management.
  • Own the development and implementation of key sourcing strategies and buying channels within Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Communications
  • Negotiate and drive best-in-class deals for the company
  • Define and communicate the Sourcing Strategy to Business Partners, Sourcing Leadership, and other stakeholders
  • Drive the realization of top savings initiatives and continuously improve the category's return on investment
  • Build strong relationships with Business Partners to drive Sourcing engagement, and act as the relationship owner with Senior leaders of each category of spend
  • Provide continuous written and verbal updates to the Business Partners, Suppliers, and other Stakeholders on the status of each deal


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Information Technology and Services sourcing landscape
  • Treat problems as if there’s no other option than to create a solution for the problem
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and remain resilient through ups and downs
  • Experience assisting in, or leading the development and management of category plans or sourcing strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement best-in-class practices, key contract terms, and emerging market trends
  • Financial acumen and experience working closely with Finance
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize complex and technical information into clear recommendations on the course of action
  • Ability to influence at an executive level both internally and externally
  • A very high level of self-motivation, initiative, passion, excitement to work cross-functionally, and excellent interpersonal skills are a MUST have for this role!
  • Willingness to offer thought leadership, to think creatively, and to offer new ways to approach old problems
