Job description

Our Customer is an American financial services and digital payments company based in San Francisco, California. They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy.

We are seeking a highly motivated Strategic Sourcing Technology Sub-Category Lead on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.

This position will lead sourcing strategies across our most business-critical spend categories, including Data and Analytics, Enterprise SaaS, Know Your Customer, Telecom, and GenAI. You will own and architect category strategies that align with long-term company priorities, leveraging advanced sourcing methods, supplier partnerships, and financial forecasting to unlock sustained value. You will partner cross-functionally with senior leaders in Engineering, Finance, and Legal to shape sourcing strategy, drive savings, optimize supplier portfolios, and ensure the technology investments are scalable and cost-efficient. You should have strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, and a proven ability to manage complex processes across a series of business partners. This is an individual contributor role and will report to the Global Technology Procurement Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead category-level strategic planning with a strong focus on sourcing, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and ongoing supplier performance management
  • Drive adoption of external best practices by leveraging market intelligence, industry network, and internal data to strengthen sourcing strategy
  • Build and maintain partnerships with senior business stakeholders to understand roadmaps and align sourcing strategies accordingly
  • Lead and execute high-stakes negotiations in collaboration with business partners, including enterprise license agreements, cloud commitments, and license agreements
  • Apply advanced negotiation levers such as benchmarking, financial modeling, and usage forecasting to optimize commercial outcomes
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining supply assurance and quality
  • Lead end-to-end supplier lifecycle management, including selection, onboarding, performance optimization, and offboarding
  • Establish supplier performance frameworks that prioritize value creation and risk mitigation
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with SOX, third-party risk management (TPRM), and audit requirements
  • Integrate sourcing processes into broader risk management and governance frameworks
  • Mentor and support junior sourcing team members while promoting inclusion and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to team-wide and organization-wide sourcing capability by sharing negotiation tactics, commercial frameworks, and sourcing methodologies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of strategic procurement or supplier management experience, preferably within a high-growth technology environment
  • 5+ years of technology category management experience
  • Experience leading large-scale software optimization initiatives, such as application rationalization and license optimization
  • Proven track record of delivering strong year-over-year savings and measurable results aligned with organizational KPIs
  • Advanced expertise in contract negotiation and commercial deal structuring
  • Strong capability in using data and financial models to guide negotiation strategy, performance measurement, and sourcing ROI
  • Proven ability to build sourcing strategies aligned with business goals, including total cost of ownership (TCO), supplier performance, and risk mitigation
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, unstructured environments and build trust with internal customers
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder influence skills across Finance, Legal, and Engineering at senior levels

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
