Job description

Our Customer is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners, defense, space and security systems, and service provider of aftermarket support. As America’s biggest manufacturing exporter, the company supports airlines and U.S. and allied government customers in more than 150 countries. Their products and tailored services include commercial and military aircraft, satellites, weapons, electronic and defense systems, launch systems, advanced information and communication systems, and performance-based logistics and training.

We are seeking a Supply Base Management Specialist on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is a hybrid setup (onsite 2 days a week) in their Everett or Renton, WA office.


Responsibilities:

  • Manages work movement projects between suppliers and supplier facility moves.
  • Leads efforts to establish executable plans, ensure performance to plan, mitigate risk and resolve supply chain issues (technical or non-technical) associated with work movement, partnering with key suppliers and Supply Chain partners to drive quality and on-time parts delivery.
  • Co-facilitates with the supplier the development of a recovery plan and unplanned demand requirements.
  • Participates in on-site supplier visits (e.g. Preferred Supplier Certification, Proof of Process and Rate Readiness) to identify supplier capacity and capability to perform current and projected work statement and support the procurement strategy.
  • Monitors suppliers' performance-to-plan to ensure compliance to contractual requirements and provides status back to supervisor and procurement agent.
  • Monitors metrics and manages work movements through a gated process and ensures process compliance.
  • Assists suppliers in developing plans and monitors suppliers' performance-to-plan to ensure compliance to contractual requirements related to the work movements.
  • Learn and practice applicable company policies and procedures
  • Leads efforts to establish executable plans, ensure performance to plan, mitigate risk and resolve supply chain issues (technical or non-technical) associated with work movement, partnering with key suppliers and Supply Chain partners to drive quality and on-time parts delivery.
  • Engages suppliers and provides technical assistance in areas such as manufacturing, planning, and requirements interpretation to ensure delivery schedule compliance and product conformity. Monitors metrics and manages work movements through a gated process and ensures process compliance.
  • Communicates with internal customers and stakeholders (i.e. procurement agents, suppliers, field quality, field operations, engineering and manufacturing) to report work movement status, risks and help needed.
  • Contribute positively on-site supplier assessments to validate transition and delivery plans, identify supplier capacity and capability to perform current and projected work statement.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities to implement new processes or improve existing processes (e.g., lean manufacturing, shop floor control, work prioritization, production and inventory control system) to enhance supplier ability to produce and deliver products and services.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • More than 7 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • More than 3 years of experience managing suppliers/vendors or managing a factory to deliver products and services
  • More than 3 years of experience in root cause analysis and Corrective action
  • More than 3 years of experience in a role that required Scheduling, Project / Factory Management skills
  • More than 5 years of experience working with Supplier Management, Supply Chain, and/or Procurement practices and processes
  • Software skills required: General Microsoft office
  • Project Management Certification preferred

  • Technical Competencies
  • Detailed Supplier Knowledge to support production includes, but are not limited to production, technical, service and design management.
  • Knowledge of business systems, organizational structure, manufacturing processes, risk mitigation, capacity planning, past/present delivery performance, design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, and supplier data.
  • Effective Written Communications
  • Knowledge of Procurement Processes. Knowledge of the interactions between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-Procurement processes (e.g.)
  • Engineering, Business, Operations, Logistics).
  • Scheduling Requirements
  • Knowledge of customer and supplier requirements to support program deliveries (e.g. planned versus unplanned demand, economic order quantity, resource planning, material type, manufacture or purchase, lead times).
  • Knowledge of supplier assessment processes including Preferred Supplier Certification and Work Transfer Process. Elements of assessment to include supplier's past performance, business processes, capacity plan, statement of work evaluation, risk mitigation plan, capabilities and lean practices in order to rate supplier viability to support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to control and deliver project deliverables.
  • Travel to local suppliers: 50%
