Job description

The Mom Project is partnering with a large, established organization in the automotive industry to identify a Supply Chain Manager (Battery Operations) on a contract basis to support its ongoing business needs. This role is hybrid in Warren, MI (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

The Supply Chain Manager will support end-to-end supply chain planning, supplier management, and operational execution within a large, complex automotive environment. This role will focus on ensuring the timely availability of automotive replacement batteries and related components while supporting inventory management, supplier performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, experience managing supplier relationships, and the ability to identify and resolve supply chain challenges in a fast-paced environment. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, logistics, engineering, quality, and finance, to address supply constraints, improve operational performance, and maintain product availability.

This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional who enjoys problem-solving, working with data, and driving meaningful improvements across a large-scale automotive supply chain operation!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the end-to-end supply chain strategy, planning, and execution for automotive replacement batteries and related components.
  • Ensure the right batteries and related products are available at the right time and location for GM Customer Care and Aftersales customers, dealers, field requirements, and business objectives.
  • Coordinate supply planning, procurement, supplier schedules, logistics, warehousing, quality, engineering, finance, commercial teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage battery availability, SPAC, backorders, past-due shipments, capacity, quality, inventory, and premium-freight risks; prioritize issues by customer impact.
  • Lead supplier follow-up, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, recovery plans, and escalation of risks until commitments are closed.
  • Maintain forecasts, dashboards, action trackers, and leadership updates; support sourcing, bridge-buy, resourcing, and long-term supply decisions.
  • This is a functional supply-chain leadership role requiring strong analytical judgment, supplier-management skills, urgency, cross-functional communication, and comfort operating with limited information.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in supply chain, operations, business, engineering, logistics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years in supply chain, purchasing, supplier management, logistics, manufacturing, service parts, or a related analytical role.
  • Technology: Advanced Excel (Tables, data cleansing, charts, and reporting); experience with Power BI or comparable; ERP/SAP or supply-chain planning systems; Teams/SharePoint/Outlook; dashboard experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to interpret supplier and inventory data, prioritize customer-impact risks, communicate with suppliers and senior stakeholders, and work with urgency and ambiguity.
