About the Role
We are seeking a highly collaborative and detail-oriented Contractor to with our Tax Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the high-quality and agile developing and licensing of analytical content and resources for our accounting industry customers. You will leverage your (1) domain expertise in accounting, (2) ability to translate complex accounting issues into practical guidance, and (3) mastery of accounting research and writing—including a fluent understanding of AI-assistance in accounting research and writing—to develop and license comprehensive and timely accounting analysis and resources. This position requires strong project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Accounting Content Creation, Licensing, Procurement, and Management
- Help oversee the licensing and procurement of content for CPAs and accountants and potentially develop and maintain content for CPAs and accounting professionals.
- Potentially write/edit high-quality articles/commentaries on current accounting issues for use by practicing accountants.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all accounting content produced, and compliance with accounting and editorial standards.
AI-Assisted Content Development
- Potentially leverage generative and agentic AI, automation, and data to streamline content development and editorial processes for developing and revising short- and long-form accounting content.
- Potentially craft prompts, evaluate AI outputs, and iterate to achieve optimal results.
- Potentially track and monitor changes and trends in accounting, as well as advances in accounting technology.
- Project Management and Stakeholder CollaborationCollaborate with Editorial Directors, Editors, and Product Managers to scope, outline, draft, edit, and quality check new analytical and practical accounting content.
- Contribute to the strategy and execution of new accounting content development, licensing, and content procurement to deliver high quality, innovative products that meet the needs of our markets.
- Continue to develop expertise in accounting and its practitioners, as well as the accounting firm and market ecosystems in which they operate.
- Potentially identify and recruit authors and contractors from cultivated networks to create high-quality accounting content. This includes potentially prospecting accounting firms and individual accountants, pitching projects, and negotiating author/contractor/licensing agreements. It also potentially includes recommending authors, organizations, and other qualified individuals to support market analysis and product research.
Continuous Improvement
- Potentially contribute to cross-functional initiatives such as new product pilots, tool and process evaluations and standards development.
- Model a forward-thinking mindset on harnessing technology for developing, licensing, and procuring accounting content.
Requirements
- CPA required, JD preferred
- At least 2 years of accounting experience or equivalent
- Significant accounting experience required
- Juris Doctor a plus but not required; advanced tax law degree a plus but not required
- Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation (EBEC) experience a plus but not required
- Proven original writing skills with the ability to interpret outputs from AI systems and integrate insights into accounting content creation. Professional tax-specific accounting analysis and writing experience preferred.
- Comfortable using and are open to learning more about typical AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Co-Pilot.
- Technical knowledge: MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Experience using LLMs to assist in drafting, summarizing, editing/revising.
- Proficiency in Lexis+, Lexis+ AI, Protege or other legal research tools a plus; experience using data tools such as Tableau and Power BI a plus
- Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills to excel in a team-oriented environment
