Job Title: Tax Preparer (Remote)

Location: Remote (Preferably Central or Eastern Time Zone, USA)

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with experience)

Status: Full-Time-30 hours/week (open to seasonal arrangement)

They are looking for an experienced and motivated tax preparer to join our team, focusing on individual and small business tax compliance with an emphasis on client service and timely delivery.

Position Overview

As the Dedicated Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing a range of tax returns primarily for individuals (1040) and partnerships (1065), with some S corporations (1120-S), and C corporations (1120). You'll also manage due date tracking, tax projections, and other planning-related tasks, utilizing Excel and other tools to spot opportunities. Direct client communication is essential, as you’ll be interacting with clients via phone, text, and email. You’ll also have full exposure to clients, as you’ll be introduced by the firm owner and have direct interaction as a representative of the firm.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual (1040), partnership (1065), S corporation (1120-S), and C corporation (1120) tax returns
  • Manage client tax due dates and ensure timely filing and compliance
  • Perform tax projections, estimated payments, and provide preliminary tax planning advice
  • Identify areas of opportunity for tax savings and discuss potential strategies with clients
  • Direct communication with clients to ensure clarity on tax matters, deadlines, and any follow-up questions
  • Work with Excel and other tools to analyze financial data and prepare tax projections
  • Assist with other tax-related tasks as necessary
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tax laws and regulations

Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of experience in tax preparation with a focus on individual and business returns
  • Technical knowledge of tax compliance, including knowledge of individual (1040), partnership (1065), S corporation (1120-S), and C corporation (1120) tax returns
  • Proficiency in tax software (Lacerte experience is a plus, but we’re open to candidates with experience in similar software)
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to perform tax projections and analyze financial data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • A CPA or EA designation is a plus, but not required
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire for potential future leadership and growth opportunities within the firm
