Job description

Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.


We are seeking a Technical Designer on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA.



Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and execute design aesthetics through consistent garment fit and construction aligned with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors throughout the product creation process.
  • Translate design concepts into technical specifications for costing and prototype development.
  • Support fit camps and maintain customer fit consistency across product categories.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate garment fit issues and recommend solutions.
  • Assess fit, construction, and quality risks throughout development processes.
  • Ensure physical and digital samples comply with brand standards and quality expectations.
  • Support fit and construction consistency across product development workflows.
  • Analyze fit-related data and relatively complex situations to recommend effective solutions.
  • Partner with design and production teams to support successful product execution.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, alterations, and grading.
  • Experience with fit, construction, and quality standards.
  • Understanding of brand, customer, and cost requirements within apparel product development.
  • Experience using PLM software or Tech Pack Management systems.
  • Experience translating design concepts into technical specifications and prototypes.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot fit and construction issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess complex fit and product development situations and recommend solutions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Experience ensuring physical and digital samples meet brand standards.
  • Familiarity with digital product development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PLM software, preferably Centric.
  • Foundational knowledge of 3D rendering and/or digital pattern software.
  • Strong experience with garment construction and patternmaking.
