Job description

Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.


We are seeking a Technical Designer for Handbags on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in NYC.


The Technical Designer for Handbags is responsible for translating design concepts into detailed technical specifications to ensure accurate development, function, and quality of handbag products. This role partners closely with design and product development to bring designs to life while maintaining brand standards and production efficiency.



Responsibilities:

  • Review prototypes, samples, and pre-production pieces, providing clear feedback and corrections
  • Ensure design intent, functionality, and durability of handbags (e.g., strap length, weight distribution, closures)
  • Communicate directly with factories/vendors to resolve technical issues and clarify construction details
  • Create BOM and upload tech pack to the right tools for vendor communication.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS/BA preferred
  • Relevant work experience
