We are seeking a Technical Environment Manager on a contract basis to support our Customer’s business needs. This role is on-site in Boston, MA.
A highly skilled, organized, and proactive Technical Environment Manager is sought to lead the management and coordination of multiple complex technical environments supporting a large-scale investment management technology transformation within an OCIO framework. This critical role ensures the delivery of stable, scalable, secure, and compliant environments that enable the design, development, testing, and deployment of strategic investment management applications and platforms.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and a thorough understanding of investment business processes and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in the Investment Management domain, with specific expertise in data management, investment trading, and reporting systems. This role requires close collaboration with business users, stakeholders, and shared services technology teams to ensure the successful delivery of application architecture that supports investment strategies and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead management and oversight of technical environments, including development, integration, testing, staging, production, and disaster recovery
- Ensure environments are stable, scalable, secure, and compliant with regulatory and internal requirements
- Manage multiple technology stacks and platforms to ensure interoperability, data integrity, and high availability
- Support strategic planning for environment delivery aligned with project phases, business priorities, and risk objectives
- Collaborate with internal architecture, engineering, and external vendor teams to design and maintain infrastructure supporting investment data ingestion, analytics, and portfolio management
- Oversee deployment, configuration, and integration of investment management platforms and supporting systems
- Establish and maintain monitoring and support capabilities to proactively address environment health, capacity, and security risks
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure service level agreements are met
- Coordinate vendor-led activities such as upgrades, patches, and escalations to minimize operational disruption
- Participate in vendor performance reviews, contract discussions, and risk assessments
- Ensure environments comply with data privacy, security, and operational risk policies
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement controls and monitor vulnerabilities
- Contribute to incident response planning and root cause analysis for environment-related issues
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to optimize performance and reduce manual effort
- Develop and maintain environment documentation, standards, and best practices
- Serve as a liaison between investment teams, IT groups, and external partners
- Provide regular reporting on environment status, risks, and improvement initiatives
- Manage and escalate environment-related risks and issues as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing complex technical environments in large-scale IT landscapes
- Experience supporting internal and SaaS applications within financial services or investment management
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing processes, and environment provisioning
- Deep knowledge of investment management business processes
- Experience integrating multiple platforms across diverse technology stacks
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation
Preferred:
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps, or CI/CD environments
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and automation tools for provisioning and monitoring
- Prior experience in an OCIO or investment consulting environment
