Job description
Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.
We are seeking a Technical Production Artist on a contract basis to support the Packaging and Labeling team to accurately and flawlessly develop final mechanicals for the packaging and labeling redesign. This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA.
Cross-Functional Partners:
- Associate Manager, TPA - Oversees workload, provides direction on current file-building processes, and collaborates on troubleshooting and planning.
- Marketing Coordinator - Communicates all artwork versions, codes, and descriptions required. Reviews edits during proofing rounds and ensures deadlines for proofing and release are met.
- Manager, P&L - Manages relationships with Marketing and supports troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Build packaging and labeling mechanical files according to specifications and established processes.
- Review and incorporate artwork updates, edits, and proofing feedback from cross-functional partners.
- Identify production concerns and propose solutions that support creative intent and manufacturable output.
- Work with die lines and packaging systems to ensure accuracy and alignment with structural requirements.
- Maintain high accuracy, consistency, and quality across all produced files.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and business needs.
- Adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
- Support continuous improvement by proactively identifying process issues and proposing enhancements.
- Establish positive working relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and timely project delivery.
- Manage personal development by seeking and applying constructive feedback.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design preferred.
- Previous experience building packaging and labeling mechanicals required.
- Understanding of packaging design, pre-press processes, and printing workflows.
- Knowledge of packaging and labeling substrates, printing and finishing techniques, and structural development.
- Expert-level proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Box.com.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Sense of urgency in managing time and completing tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work proactively.
- Solid design sensibility.
- Ability to identify production issues and recommend solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with die lines and packaging systems.
