Job description

Our Customer’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. We are seeking a Technical Writer on a contract basis to provide high-quality documentation, code samples, and tutorials. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating engaging and informative content that helps developers build immersive experiences in the platform. This role is 100% remote, PST preferred.


Please include at least 2 writing samples attached to your resume, such as a how-to tutorial sample and something more conceptual.



Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain accurate, concise, and engaging documentation, including API references, guides, and tutorials
  • Develop code samples and examples that demonstrate best practices for building immersive experiences
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and design, to ensure that documentation is accurate and up-to-date
  • Conduct research and interviews to gather information and create content that meets the needs of the developer audience
  • Work independently to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with minimal supervision
  • Continuously improve and refine documentation based on feedback from internal stakeholders and external users


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience writing for a developer audience, with a focus on technical documentation and code samples
  • At least 2 writing samples attached to the resume, such as a how-to tutorial sample and something more conceptual.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience with version control systemstejc
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear and concise language
  • Ability to work independently and escalate issues where needed


Preferred:

  • Experience with 3D AR/VR gaming and a preference for experience with technical writing for platforms
  • Former Google employee with experience working on large-scale technical documentation projects
  • Knowledge of media production and instructional design principles, with experience creating interactive tutorials and guides
