With more than 100,000 professionals, they provide audit and assurance, tax, consulting, and risk and financial advisory services to a broad cross-section of the largest corporations and governmental agencies.
We are seeking a Trade Surveillance Engineer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote.
The Trade Surveillance Engineer is a key technical expert responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that feed high-volume, complex capital markets data into a trade surveillance platform. The role requires expertise in ETL processes, financial market data across multiple asset classes, and regulatory compliance. The engineer will partner with compliance officers, quantitative analysts, and technology teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness for effective market abuse detection.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and load trading and market data from multiple source systems
- Configure and integrate trade surveillance platforms to ensure seamless data flow and optimal performance of surveillance models and custom controls
- Apply knowledge of financial instruments across equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives to ensure accurate data mapping and transformation
- Implement data quality frameworks to validate and monitor trading data, preventing false positives in surveillance alerts
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance pipelines and system performance, introducing automation and advanced analytics where possible
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues, including root cause analysis and production support
- Partner with compliance, trading, risk, and technology teams to continuously improve surveillance effectiveness
- Create and maintain documentation on data mapping, data lineage, and ETL processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience in data engineering or ETL development, preferably within financial services or capital markets
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, market data concepts, and trading practices
- Hands-on expertise in ETL design, implementation, and optimization for large-scale datasets
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or C#
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) preferred
- Familiarity with trade surveillance systems such as TradingHub, Actimize, or SMARTS is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of financial regulations related to market abuse and regulatory reporting requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex data and production issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
