Our Client - Legal company
- Remote
Job description
Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products, and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.
We are seeking an experienced contract Acquisition Integration Manager (M&A) to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote, but candidates must be willing to overlap UK business hours, a minimum of 4 hours.
This role will lead the end-to-end execution of publishing acquisitions through integration and stabilization. This individual will own the full transition lifecycle—Day 1 readiness, post-close integration, and exit to business-as-usual—coordinating across editorial, production, operations, rights, royalties, distribution, finance, HR, and IT.
The ideal candidate brings deep project management discipline, hands-on integration experience, and the ability to navigate the operational complexity unique to content businesses, including author and contributor contracts, IP and rights portfolios, royalty obligations, backlist and frontlist title migrations, and distribution and licensing arrangements.
This is a high-autonomy, high-accountability role suited to a seasoned operator who can step into ambiguity, build structure quickly, and drive disciplined execution against an aggressive timeline.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the editorial/content/operations integration: align acquisition and commissioning processes, harmonize style and editorial standards, own content conversion pipeline, and onboard editors and authors.
- Migrate the title catalog: metadata cleanup and alignment, ISBN reconciliation, and cutover with distribution and retail partners.
- Integrate operations: production and manufacturing workflows, rights and permissions, royalty processing, contracts administration, and inventory and warehousing.
- Coordinate supporting workstreams across finance, HR, IT, sales, and marketing to keep editorial and operational integration on track.
- Manage author, agent, vendor, and employee communications throughout the transition.
- Track risks, decisions, and milestones; report status to executive sponsors on a regular cadence.
- Define exit criteria, hand workstreams to functional owners, and capture lessons learned for future acquisitions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- JD/LLM preferred; bachelor’s or commensurate required
- 5+ years of program and project management experience, including ownership of at least one post-close acquisition integration.
- Must be available to work at least 4 hours overlapping UK and US business hours daily.
- Advanced PM credentials or demonstrated equivalent mastery.
- Strong track record leading cross-functional teams in matrixed environments without direct authority.
- Excellent executive communication and the ability to operate independently with minimal ramp time.
- PMP or equivalent preferred
- MUST have had prior acquisition/integration experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior acquisition integration experience with a content publishing company (trade, educational, academic, professional, or digital media).
- Working knowledge of publishing operations: editorial workflows, rights and royalties, title metadata, and distribution.
- Legal background (LLM, JD, paralegal, or in-house M&A/IP/contracts experience) sufficient to read deal documents and partner closely with counsel.
We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
