Treasury Manager
The Treasury Manager is responsible for leading the treasury team as it manages the various cash functions related to the organization’s myriad fund bank accounts. Treasury is responsible for bank relationships to ensure continued access to bank accounts for its funds and corporate needs. The Treasury Manager has the critical duty of overseeing the company’s banking activity including deposit verification, using online banking systems, maintaining bank statements, analyzing bank fees, and implementing process changes as needed. The Treasury Manager interacts closely with the company's investment teams to verify and complete the investment process through wire instruction verification. In addition, the treasury function will handle routine corporate bill payment activity that is paid electronically as well as ensuring all investment activity and distributions via electronic means are processed and executed seamlessly. The role reports to the EVP of Finance and works closely with the VPs of Fund Accounting and the Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate maintenance of bank accounts, balances, bank/Treasury systems and appropriate level of bank expense
- Manage cash to maximize earnings credit for corporate accounts offsets as well as appropriate returns on investor cash in a Fund prior to its deployment into portfolio companies
- Develop working relationships with Corporate and Fund Accounting teams to oversee and process cash flow activity including portfolio company investments, management fee draws, fund and management company distributions, carry payouts, Tier rebates, AP requests, etc.
- Ensure all activity/requests meet approval chain requirements (develop incremental process as needed) with written documentation for required record keeping
- Ensure daily processing and review of cash positions, including incoming and outgoing activity
- Ensure monthly cash reconciliations for accounts completed and information reflected appropriately in systems of record
Basic Qualifications
- BS/BA required; MBA/Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) desired
- 3-5 years of proven experience in a Treasury department; exposure to venture, private equity, mutual fund, or CLO industry is preferred
Key Characteristics
- Knowledge of principles and best practices of cash management and treasury functions
- Experience with banking platforms and their administrative functionality and ability to implement best practices for separation of duties and access control as well as managing a significant number of accounts
- Experience with a high rate of growth environment with demonstrated experience with process improvement
- Inquisitive, quick learner
- Well refined analytical abilities, including report design capabilities and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task, be a self-starter, and manage competing deadlines
- Proficient Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results
- Strong project management with ability to develop and execute task specific projects with minimal direct supervision
- Outstanding attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively with all levels of corporate staff and management
