We are seeking a contract UX Researcher with deep quantitative research expertise to join our team. This role will focus on designing and executing rigorous studies that inform product decisions and improve messaging and search experiences. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in survey design, statistical analysis, and communicating insights that drive business impact. This role is on-site in NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute custom research to identify user needs.
- Conduct quantitative studies, including survey design, sampling, data cleaning, and statistical analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers on survey implementation and custom research solutions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, product, data science, and marketing) to ensure research insights inform product strategy.
- Analyze complex data using tools such as Python, R, or SPSS and apply advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, t-tests, ANOVA, Chi-Square).
- Translate research findings into actionable insights through reports, presentations, and workshops.
- Advocate for user needs across teams, influencing business and product decisions.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Business, Social Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a product or user research setting.
- Strong expertise in quantitative research methods, survey design, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency with Python (Jupyter), R, or SPSS.
- Experience using online research tools for survey implementation and data analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Comfortable working on complex technologies that rely on machine learning and ranking systems.
Preferred:
- MS or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Business, Social Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant product/user research experience.
- Advanced statistical skills (e.g., Hierarchical Linear Modeling, Latent Factor Analysis).
- Experience leading impactful research programs influencing product strategy.
- Familiarity with digital advertising or monetization research.
- Prior experience in large-scale, complex technology environments.
