Job description

Our Customer’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through their family of apps and services, they are building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together.

Our customer is seeking a contract UX Researcher to help support their business needs. This role is onsite in the Bay Area.

This role will interact directly with game/app-development teams, turning their needs and goals into research plans which will usually be usability tests/playtests, but sometimes surveys, and result in a better understanding of consumer needs and the user journey. For playtests, they will manage them wholly: writing the plan, working with recruiting to find the right participants, moderating the study, and synthesizing and presenting the findings. For surveys, they will also manage them from end to end: writing them, programming them in the company's internal tools or Qualtrics, pulling potential respondents in SQL (or purchasing them from a vendor), and analyzing the data in R or SPSS (support for this will be available) and writing the report.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Psychology or Sociology, any degree
  • 4-5+ years of user research experience
  • Experience moderating user research sessions and usability testing
  • Experience turning qual and quant data into actionable insights
  • Working with a diverse set of stakeholders
Distinctive Qualifications::
  • Video Games User Research experience
  • Survey writing expertise
  • Experience working in entertainment, media, or music publishing industries
  • Understanding of research agency landscape, especially agencies specializing in the entertainment/media research space
  • App development user research
  • VR (Virtual Reality) user research experience
  • Passion for video games and/or VR is needed
  • Experience with analysis and data modeling in R or SPSS
