Our Customer is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable contract UX Researcher - Gaming to help support their business needs. This role is remote in Seattle, WA; candidates must be located in the Seattle area, with the ability to utilize onsite UX labs on occasion (most work can be performed remotely).

This role will support the execution of research studies for VR/MR games. As a UX Researcher on the team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with researchers, designers, PMs, and engineers to identify, define, and deliver meaningful products into the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute research roadmaps
  • Lead various research studies throughout all phases of the product development cycle
  • Contribute to product strategy, execution, and go-to-market plan
  • Manage research vendors to augment the work of the research team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, HCI, or related field
  • Qualitative Research Experience: 8+ years of experience moderating user research sessions, analyzing qualitative data, and turning it into actionable insights.
  • Full-Service Research Execution: Proven ability to handle all aspects of research execution, including planning, participant recruitment, moderation, data analysis, writing reports, and presenting insights to stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, such as product teams, designers, and developers.
  • Requires experience in the gaming industry, preferably in game testing or quality assurance
  • Experience with all aspects of research execution, including planning, participant recruitment, moderation, data analysis, writing reports, and presenting insights to stakeholders
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Passion for video games and/or VR
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with data and utilizing numbers to define and support hypotheses
  • Experience with storytelling to get traction with various audiences
  • Ability to use a VR headset for work

Preferred:

  • Video Game User Research Experience: Direct experience conducting user research for video games, including understanding player behavior, preferences, and pain points.
  • VR User Research Experience: Familiarity with conducting user research in virtual reality environments, including designing studies, recruiting participants, and analyzing data.
  • Quantitative Data Analysis: Education and experience with survey writing, analysis, and interpreting quantitative data to inform design decisions.
