We are seeking a Market Understanding Researcher/Data Journalist to shape the product vision and strategy for our client, impacting billions of users daily. The Market Understanding Researcher will work closely with other researchers as well as leadership to drive and deep insights that will improve users current and future experiences with our client and the social media landscape. To understand this broader ecosystem, they should be experienced in comparative market analysis, well-versed in business strategy, and able to leverage primary and secondary research and data. This role is 100% Remote.
The ideal candidate will have experience leveraging best-in-class market research and comparative landscape tools and methods to deepen understanding of user and product needs. They will thrive in an agile, fast-paced, collaborative environment, working closely with quantitative and qualitative researchers, as well as cross-functional product team partners to shape our users experience.
Responsibilities:
- Strong writing skills - the ability to craft succinct, clear reports for different and varying audiences and work collaboratively with other authors.
- Deep expertise partnering with various research-related modalities (e.g. quantitative, Business Intelligence, Behavioral Science) to tell a holistic and robust insights story
- Deep understanding of business strategy and the ability to develop user insights that align with and support business goals
- Passionate about solving key user problems through technology
- Experience partnering with and influencing Product and Design teams to deliver actionable insights with business impact
- Experience using market analysis and/or comparative landscape tools and methods
- Experience operating in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Great synthesizer of complex user feedback and comparative market data, and can translate these into succinct and actionable insights
- An extremely strong communicator, able to clearly and efficiently articulate data and insights to inform product decisions
- Experience mentoring other researchers and cross-functional product partners and enjoys providing mentorship to others
- Highly collaborative and able to work with multiple product disciplines from Engineering, Product Management and Data Science
Preferred Skills:
- Experience helping strategize, launch and scale tech and consumer products.
- Relevant experience within market research, consumer insights/experience, business understanding, user experience, in an applied research setting and/or product research, strategy, and development
- Experience with market analysis and/or comparative landscape tools, methods and working with 3rd party datasert
- Experience with social media products and use cases
- Interest in and experience executing hands-on, primary research and secondary research
- Experience translating data and insights into strategic narratives
Education & Skills:
- Bachelors degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, Masters degree and 5+ years relevant experience, or a PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience
