Job description
Our Customer is a Silicon Valley-based company that is engaged in researching emerging technologies.
We are seeking a contract UX Writer to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Mountain View, CA.
The UX writer will join a cross-disciplinary team of product managers, designers, user researchers, writers, and software engineers to help users become more aware of and proactive about managing and improving their health. This role will include writing clear and concise user-centric health-related content for a broad range of topics, including nutrition, heart health, fitness, sleep, mindfulness, and chronic health conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, concise, user-centric text that maintains consistency across health-related apps and features.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and researchers to meet user and stakeholder needs while following established writing style guidelines.
- Support research teams by assisting with study protocols and attending usability sessions virtually.
- Manage content needs for global product teams, including editing draft content, creating new content based on product descriptions, overseeing review cycles, and submitting finalized content into translation systems.
- Work collaboratively with fellow UX writers to maintain consistent style, workflows, and stakeholder communication practices.
- Stay current with trends in health writing and proactively bring new, innovative solutions to content challenges.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Public Health, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of UX writing experience.
- Experience creating and revising content in partnership with global stakeholders.
- Experience writing short- and long-form health-related content for general consumers.
- Strong collaboration experience with design and product teams.
- Fluency in UX and UX writing best practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate content direction to diverse audiences through strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in product direction or design.
- Comfort revising content based on user research and stakeholder feedback.
- Flexible, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work creatively in ambiguous or constrained environments.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and results-driven approach.
Preferred:
- Experience writing content for mobile or wearable consumer apps.
- Experience contributing to content strategy, process development, or content design initiatives.
- Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Figma, Slack, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience using AI tools for content generation and editing.
- Experience writing content or Instructions for Use for medical devices or SaMD, including the use of quality management or application lifecycle management systems.
