Job description

Part-Time Paralegal

Family Law Firm

100% Remote

20 hours/week

$45-55/hour

100% Remote


Core Responsibilities

Paralegal duties for a family law practice, to include:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and tracking discovery;
  • Preparing trial exhibits and trial notebooks;
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, and required court documents;
  • Electronic filing of court-documents, discovery, and correspondence;
  • Monitoring electronic court filings; scheduling responses and advising attorney of same;
  • Accurately calendaring deadlines and ticklers;
  • Advising of judge and courtroom assignments;
  • Reviewing files for compliance with Maryland Rules;
  • Consistently and accurately updating client files and advising attorney of case status;
  • Interacting with clients to secure documents and information pertinent to legal matters;
  • Entering billable hours;
  • Meeting with the attorney to provide case status updates on all matters;
  • Interacting with court personnel , clients, and opposing counsel;
  • Interacting with other paralegals of the firm;

Core Competencies/Qualifications/Skills

  • 5+ years of Paralegal experience, preference for experience working within the Family Law space.
  • Paralegal training/experience
  • Knowledge of Maryland Rules and statutes
  • Legal research skills
  • Ability to accurately calculate and calendar Rules-based deadlines for pleadings, motions, and other court-required documents;
  • Knowledge of industry leading cloud-based client management and case file management system (e.g., CLIO)
  • Must have strong experience using CLIO
  • Proficiency in Word, Adobe Pro, and other platforms;
  • Highly proficient at proofreading and grammer;
  • Self-starter; independent worker; and committed to finding solutions when obstacles arise;
  • Adherence to firm protocols and accountability;
  • Adherence to court protocols;
  • Loyal, courteous, and highly professional;
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills for producing court-ready and client-ready documents and correspondence;
  • Excellent organizational and time-managment skills;
  • General comfort level with technology;
  • Confident in your work product and poised to learn more; among other skills
