Job description

Our Customer is a consumer financial services company headquartered in Connecticut. The company offers consumer financing products, including credit, promotional financing and loyalty programs, installment lending to industries, and FDIC-insured consumer savings products through the consumer bank, its wholly owned online bank subsidiary.

We are seeking a VP, Client Development, on a contract basis to support our customer’s ongoing business needs. This role is 100% remote.

This role will attract and enroll merchants in the eCommerce Solutions program. This includes identifying, soliciting, and pitching prospects and relaying feedback to product and marketing teams. This leader will also pitch distribution partners (e.g., web agencies, nascent platforms) who have access to networks of small merchants and can enroll at scale. Over time, the company intends to build out a dedicated sales team, which this VP would lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch prospective merchants on e-commerce financing solutions, clearly communicating value and growth opportunities
  • Engage and convert dropped or partial leads within the eCommerce funnel
  • Drive merchant enrollment and activation to meet program performance and sales goals
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop and execute growth strategies
  • Gather and share competitive insights to inform product improvements
  • Maintain strong relationships with merchants and partners
  • Support special projects and additional initiatives as needed
  • Uphold company values and act with integrity in all interactions

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (10+ years in lieu of degree)
  • 5-7+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing, preferably within consumer finance or PLCC programs
  • 5-7+ years of experience in client management or retail management
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with e-commerce or retail merchants
  • Ability to manage and grow merchant or partner relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with e-commerce platforms or digital merchants
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and scale programs
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing merchant or partner portfolios
