We are seeking a VP, Facilities and Properties on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is on-site in Charlotte, NC.
This role will involve the design and construction of projects for an 8-hospital, multiple clinic health system, serving 29 counties in eastern North Carolina. Manage corporate office staff of 16 that provides design services, management of design consultants, and administration of construction contracts. Project delivery systems include traditional design/bid/construct, negotiated contracts, and design/build. Project programs range from minor remodels to hospital replacements. Joint Commission Life Safety (LS) and Environment of Care (EOC) oversight for all facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a member of the Executive Staff
- Participates in the overall executive leadership of the health system
- Works with hospital administration to develop appropriate budgets and schedules that meet program requirements
- Collaborates with hospital administrations to ensure implementation and achievement of long-range goals and objectives
- Represent Facilities & Properties in Executive meetings, CEO updates, VH Governing Boards, and regional facilities leadership forums
- Responsible for the overall planning and management of design and construction projects within the health system
- Works with hospital administration, outside consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to implement program objectives
- Leads facility master plan initiatives to maintain hospitals as premier healthcare facilities
- Responsible for controlling costs
- Strives to improve the quality of work and productivity of Facilities + Properties staff and consultants
- Negotiates contracts to ensure the best quality and value for the cost, and optimum schedules for the health system
- Provides consulting services on design/construction projects
- Procures and manages consultants for design/planning studies to meet programmatic needs
- Attends and conducts regular meetings with administrators, medical staff, and staff to discuss problems and disseminate up-to-date project information
- Improves work performance among employees while maintaining high production and morale
- Provides administrative development of standards, policies, and procedures related to design, construction, the environment of care, and land acquisitions
- Reviews standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Provides administrative coordination between Facilities + Properties, Plant Operations, Biomedical, and regional Facilities for effective daily facility operations
- Acts as liaison between departments and regional facilities to ensure adequate support and achievement of VH goals and standards
- Manages the Facilities & Properties work schedules and operating budget
- Approves expenditures and monitors monthly expenses
- Approves overtime for non-exempt employees to contain salary costs
- Performs other duties as required
- Takes necessary steps to ensure an effective environment of care for patients, visitors, and staff
Qualifications
- PhD
- 10-15 years of related experience
