The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, a values-first digital creative agency based in Austin, Texas, who is looking for a Web Content Specialist. This role is remote and freelance / contract with potential to become full time.
About the job
The Web Content Specialist will join the UX team and report directly to the Director of UX. In this role, you will assist the Director of UX throughout the web redesign process and take ownership of collecting, organizing, and integrating all of the end client's website content. You’ll be instrumental in managing content quality and aligning it with their objectives, while also engaging in research and content planning activities. This role requires an eye for detail, experience in WordPress, a solid understanding of UX principles, and the ability to work autonomously on time-sensitive tasks.
Responsibilities
Content Coordination & Management
- Engage with clients, the operations team, and leadership to gather and organize digital assets.
- Create and maintain files for content collection, ensuring content is optimized and ready for integration.
- Implement and update content in WordPress, optimizing the CMS and content blocks for functionality and usability.
- Quality assure CMS and block setup, offering usability suggestions and identifying areas for improvement.
Content Strategy & Research
- Plan and implement user research strategies and methodologies to inform content decisions.
- Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written and oral presentations, ensuring insights are actionable.
- Perform content audits to assess content performance, identifying gaps and content needs to support user goals and client objectives.
- Develop a solid understanding of target audiences and user needs through research and apply insights to improve content quality and relevance.
- Collaborate with the UX team to create site plans that align with project objectives and user experience best practices.
Required experience + knowledge
- 2+ years of proven experience managing websites and digital content
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communication science or a similar field is a plus.
- Google Analytics Certification is also a plus
Thorough knowledge of:
- Site speed, including Google Page Speed and Core Web Vitals.
- Google Tools – Google Analytics, Google Search Console & Google Tag Manager.
- Structured data, including rich snippets, schema and validation tools
Working knowledge of:
- Content management systems, particularly WordPress, along with basic HTML and CSS.
- Emerging web development technologies like Webflow and Headless WordPress.
- E-commerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.
