Job description

Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.


Our customer is looking for a Creative Project Manager on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is on-site in Milwaukee, WI.


The Workday Configuration Specialist supports the Workday platform by configuring, customizing, and governing Workday functionality to support the strategic objectives. The person in this role will respond to tickets, incidents, and requests from end-users in addition to partnering on longer-term and more complex projects.



Responsibilities:

  • Configure, optimize, and maintain Workday to ensure stable, efficient, and scalable operation
  • Analyze existing Workday configurations and compare against desired functionality to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to end users
  • Respond to tickets, requests, and incidents promptly with a professional, consultative approach
  • Communicate clearly on progress, risks, roadblocks, and solution options
  • Conduct regular quality assurance reviews to ensure effective and future-proof Workday solutions
  • Evaluate, document, and improve team procedures and workflows
  • Support knowledge transfer activities with end users and stakeholders
  • Implement enhancements to improve system reliability, performance, and usability
  • Maintain data integrity by developing audits, analyzing data, and supporting transactional review and approval processes
  • Manage Workday release planning activities, including impact analysis and enhancement identification
  • Support regression testing and implementation of required changes during Workday releases
  • Maintain and curate a Workday knowledge base to support ongoing knowledge sharing across teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment between system configuration and business needs


Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience configuring and supporting Workday in a mid-to-large organization
  • Experience configuring at least two Workday modules
  • Strong understanding of HR business processes, metrics, and best practices
  • Experience partnering with functional stakeholders to deliver Workday solutions aligned with business requirements
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot configuration and integration issues through root-cause analysis and independent testing
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability
  • Resourceful and able to navigate challenges independently
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage conflict and difficult stakeholder interactions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize effectively
